Welcome to the APA 7 and MLA Guide!
This guide has pages on the two citation styles and please feel free to ask for help from Library staff if you're struggling
There are two parts to every APA & MLA citation:
- In-text Citation:
- Goes inside your writing to show the sources you quoted or paraphrased
- It is a small piece of information to help the reader locate the reference list entry Example: (MacIsaac, 2024)
- Reference List Entries:
- It is an alphabetized list made up of four elements: author, date, title and source. These elements provide the information required to identify and retrieve the works cited in the text
